Cool MTB circuits coming after the Tues. road crits.

Summer MTB practice (tentative)
7-13 MTB 6:30PM Deadman Picnic Area
7-20 MTB 6:30PM Roosevelt Middle School, Tijeras
7-27 MTB 6:30PM Roosevelt Middle School, Tijeras
8-3 MTB 6:30PM Roosevelt Middle School, Tijeras
8-10 MTB 6:30PM Deadman Picnic Area
8-17 MTB 6:30PM Pine Flat Picnic Area

No entry fee, but if you want to make a donation of say, 10, bucks to help cover expenses, that would be cool. Juniors are free. If you are broke or forget to bring any $$, feel free to show up and ride ayway. You need a USAC (road or MTB) license to ride. A one-day license costs $5, I do not keep this, it goes straight to USAC.

Roosevelt Directions: Go east from Albuquerque to the Tijeras exit. Exit and go right at the Y. The road will bend right and come to a light, and there will be a Subway on your right. Go through the light and continue about 1/4 mi to your first paved right which will be Public School Rd which will wind downhill to the start area.
Course is roling winding singletrack with some road sections inbetween. Slime recmmended.

Deadman/Pine Flat Directions:
Take Roosevelt directions but do not go right on Public School Rd, instead continue on NM337 (old South 14) about 7.5 miles. (About 4 miles past the Otero Trailhead.) There will be a small sign on the left that says Deadman. Ride down the dirt road about 1/4mi to the start.  Pine Flat is about 1/4 mile before Deadman, also on the left.
Course wil be mostly singletrack conected with two dirt road sections. Singletrack varies from wide beaten bike/motorcycle trails to vaguely defined goatpaths. Since this is upper Cedro, rock gardens are a condiment and not the main course.

The Legal Fine Print: To be held under USA Cycling Non-
competitive event permit. USAC license required. If you do not have a license you can purchase a one Day license for $5. Note that if you go to a normal race (under a competittive permit) a one-day costs $10.  Onsite registration only.  Promoting clubs Team Cross and Team Cafe Giuseppe. No prizes will be given and informal results will not be usable towards category upgrade. Helmets Required. These are, legally speaking, insured training rides or practice sessions, basically like playing pickup soccer at the park. Obviously we ride around as fast as we can as if it were le Coupe du Monde, but most of us ride like that a lot when we are alone as well. The sponsors of this event help us pay the insurance and other costs for the series. Please patronize them.

Note on weather:
We will generally run these rain or shine or whatever.
If it is really bad (lightning, hail, icy roads) call 2596885 to check if the event is still going to happen.

Beginners, -14 kids: There will be a beginner/Kids course at each one of the MTB circuits. We want to make these where anyone who has just ridden their MTB around a little can show up get a feel for MTB racing in an inexpensive and informal setting.

Note on forms:
As we are holding these as late as possible, so the faster you can get signed up, the better. It helps a lot if you print out a form, fill in everything but the date and signature, run off some copies and bring them out ready to go. Be sure and write your license number on the top of the form even though there (strangely) is not a blank for it.  A USAC Non-Competitive Release is required. Get the .PDF here.
You could also get extra forms from us, I will bring spares.
